Add a field to an existing table by using the Data Definition Language (DDL) ALTER TABLE
The ALTER TABLE statement changing the structure of a table that is created by using the CREATE TABLE statement.
You can use ADD COLUMN to add a new field to the table, and specify the field name, data type, and optionally (for fields of type text or binary) size.
For example:
The following statement adds the Customers table to a text field named Notes and 60 size:
ALTER TABLE Customers ADD COLUMN Notes varchar(60)
